Grief

Grief is the profound sorrow or emotional distress that arises from the loss of someone or something significant, often characterized by feelings of sadness, loneliness, and a sense of emptiness. It commonly follows the death of a loved one but can also occur due to other forms of loss such as a breakup, the end of a relationship, loss of health, or changes in life circumstances. Grief is a complex and individual experience, often involving a range of emotions including shock, anger, guilt, and confusion. It can manifest physically and mentally, affecting a person’s daily functioning. The grieving process varies widely from person to person and may include various stages, such as denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance, although these stages may not occur in a linear fashion. Grieving is a natural and healthy reaction, allowing individuals to process their loss, find support, and eventually adjust to life without what was lost.
